Summer is here, and that means it’s once again time to celebrate WAMO 107.3’s Summer Jam! Pittsburgh’s beloved hip-hop radio station has brought listeners unprecedented hits and fan favorites. This season, the music goes live, and it’s getting the fast-rising hip-hop star NoCap! The show falls on Sunday, 11th June 2023, and will take over Stage AE Outdoors in the Burgh! This highly anticipated event promises the audience nothing but incredible hits! NoCap is known for his iconic mixtapes, which spawned bangers such as “Ghetto Angels” and “Outside.” Apart from older hits, NoCap is set to perform songs from his breakthrough debut album, Mr. Crawford, as well as brand new releases, which were dropped this spring! WAMO 107.3 is currently Pittsburgh’s number 1 hip-hop and R&B radio station. The station is currently run by Audacy Inc. and is part of a whopping 200 million monthly listenership brought in by the audio content giant. WAMO 107.3 regularly holds exciting concerts featuring the city's hottest rap and R&B artists. This 2023, the station brings in the burgeoning rap star NoCap.
NoCap, whose real name is Kobe Vidal Crawford Jr., has been a prolific force in the underground hip-hop scene since 2017. He first made waves with his EP Joker. This was followed by his debut mixtape, Neighborhood Hero, which spawned the breakout hit “Legend.” The single’s music video has clocked in over one million Youtube views. That same year, NoCap collaborated with critically-acclaimed rapper Rylo Rodriguez. Together, they released, Rogerville.
In 2019, NoCap released his career-defining hit, “Ghetto Angels.” The song amassed over 80 million views on Youtube, earning him a platinum certification in the U.S. For the rest of the year, Nocap released several more collaboration singles and was featured in a number of Internet radio shows, including DJ Booth’s Bless The Booth and HotNewHipHop Freestyle Session.
The following year, NoCap’s fourth mixtape, Steel Human, soared to number 31 on the Billboard 200. The record spawned the single “Count a Million,” which featured acclaimed rapper Lil Uzi Vert. That same year, NoCap released the music videos for “By Tonight,” “Radar,” and “Overtime.” In 2022, NoCap finally released his debut album, Mr. Crawford, which debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200, and peaked at number 4 and 3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums. The record spawned the hit single “Vaccine (Falling Star),” which had already garnered over 20 million listens across streaming platforms.
This spring, NoCap dropped his new singles, “Deadicated” and “Cuban Links & Drug Habits.” Both songs have amassed over a combined six million views on Youtube since its release. Although there is no talk yet on an upcoming album, fans are already anticipating plenty of new music to come out this year from the highly-acclaimed rapper.
