The rockers over at Dexter and The Moonrocks are down and ready to take their music to the next level. Following the release of their “Happy To Be Here” EP last May, the “Couch” & “Sad in Carolina” hitmakers are hyped up to take their masterpieces to the big stage. As they continue to gain greater attention and welcome new fans to the family, they truly are the next generation of alt-rock.
With music described as “western space grunge” by their fans, the band infuses country notes with their love for grunge and alternative rock. Characterized by unique storytelling, raw energies, and some out-of-this-world sonic elements, their music is a relatable sphere that tackles themes of love, loss, and the crazy journey of human experience.
Their new record packs a punch, taking everything that they’re known for to new heights. The record as a whole feels more personal as the four-piece band experimented and took as much time to develop their sound. Following a set of breakout singles and the massive #1 Alternative Airplay success of “Sad in Carolina,” the former fry cook, oil field operator, concrete surface decorator and kids’ baseball coach soon became alt-rock sensations. Now, they’re leading a new wave of rock artists who keep the genre alive.
Prelude Press describes the EP as something that “features their trademark melancholy lyrics set to fuzzy, downtuned guitars that would make even the most stoic cowboy weep and then mosh in a sweaty pit.”
The band has earned a reputation for live shows that are explosively good. Their all-out energies have won them some spots at the biggest music festivals such as the Welcome to Rockville, Lovin’ Life Festivals, and the Warped Tour. With anthems made for stadiums, every single song can hype up the crowd — no matter what city, state, or venue they’re playing at. You’re definitely gonna cheer out loud, sing along, and probably even shed a tear as these dudes rock it hard.
From viral covers to viral hits, and taking over concert venues, Dexter and The Moonrocks is unstoppable. They truly are changing the game, marking a new generation of alt-rock bands.
