The exhilarating journey through one of rock’s greatest back catalogues doesn’t just pay tribute to The Grateful Dead, but also capture the entire “Deadhead” experience to a tee. The Winter 2026 tour is slated to kick off at the end of January 2026 in Phoenix, Arizona, making stops in Ventura, Oakland, Saint Paul, and Wilkes Barre,up before wrapping towards the end of March 2026 in Thornville, Ohio, with the Dark Star Jubilee Festival alongside Little Feat and Melvin Seals.
You might wonder just how close to The Grateful Dead is Dark Star Orchestra though.
The answer is simple: from the extensive jams to the remarkable musicality, from the energetic improvisations to the seamless transitions - Dark Star Orchestra has it all and then some. But, apart from this, while at the same time bringing the iconic sounds of The Grateful Dead to a newer generation, Dark Star Orchestra is also a monumental creative force on its own - one could almost say that they are respecting their roots greatly, keeping a legacy alive and well while carving out their own path simultaneously, with numbers such as Stay Up Late, often performed in sets alongside The Grateful Dead classics such as Touch of Grey, Franklin’s Tower, and Ripple.
Without a doubt, Dark Star Orchestra is one of those bands you can see a million times, and each show would be as engaging, electric, and fantastic as the last - yet unique!
