The Irvine, California-based rock band Young the Giant has received widespread critical and commercial success as members of one of the most talked-about bands in modern rock. Frontman Sameer Gadhia is joined by guitarists Jacob Tilley and Eric Cannata, bassist Payam Doostzadeh, and drummer Francois Comtois. Before releasing their self-titled debut album in 2009 on Roadrunner Records, the band went by the name The Jakes. My Body, Cough Syrup, and Apartment, the band's first three singles, all charted on the US Alternative Songs chart and catapulted the band to fame.

Kassel, in the German state of Hesse, is the birthplace of the enduringly popular rock band Milky Chance. Their lineup consists of lead singer/guitarist Clemens Rehbein, bassist Philipp Dausch, drummer Antonio Greger, and guitarist Sebastian Schmidt. Upon its initial release in April 2013, "Stolen Dance" experienced meteoric success around the globe. In fact, it was named "Best Single of the Year" by 1Live Krone. The track "Down by the River" can be found on their debut studio album "Sadnecessary," which was released in October of 2013. In 2014, "Spin" named the album their Album of the Week, and it debuted at number fourteen in Germany. The band won the European Border Breakers Award and made their television debut on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in the same month (October 2014).
